Angels We Have Heard on High

This has always been one of my favorite Christmas carols, as evidenced by the three arrangements here. Simple piano (for one of my children at Christmastime), and two versions for women's choir: (1) SA and (2) a completely different arrangement SSAA. The SA version can be done as a duet. The SSAA has a dance feel, with 6/8 meter.

Voicing: Duet/SA choir, simple piano solo, women's choir SSAA
Accompaniment: Piano
Topics: Christmas

French Carol, arranged by Rachel P. Mohlman

LYRICS

Angels we have heard on high,
Sweetly singing o'er the plains.
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.

Gloria in excelsis deo!
Gloria in excelsis deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the tidings be
Which inspire your heav'nly song?

Gloria in excelsis deo!
Gloria in excelsis deo!

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord, the newborn King!

Gloria in excelsis deo!
Gloria in excelsis deo!
In excelsis deo!

Gloria!
Gloria!
